Adding Curtains or Sheers to Your Porch... Welcome to the 3rd Metamorphosis Monday!

Not long after the screened-in porch was completed, I made a simple change that had a large impact on both the appearance and the "feel" of the porch. The total cost for this change was only around $100.

Here's a pic of the porch before the change...

And here's after...do you see the change? :-)

Another before...

And after...

Big hint: The change is billowing out in the breeze in this pic... :-)

Another before...

And after...

One last before...

After...

My goal was to soften the feel of the porch. The sheers actually exceeded my expectations because in addition to softening the hard edges, they also gave the porch a romantic, up-in-the-clouds feel that I really love. Even inexpensive, small changes can sometimes make a large impact. :-)

I can't wait to see all the great "Before and Afters" posted for this Met Monday!

The sheers did make a huge difference. They just seem to have finished the room. They do give it a very romantic feel and make the porch look more like a room than a porch. What a wonderful addition. Hugs, Marty

It's amazing how much those sheers changed the look and feel of your porch. It reminds me of that Seals and Croft song, "Summer Breeze".

I agree that great minds think alike. :>)

The sheers bring life and movement to what would otherwise seem to be a static area. Being on the second level of your home I'm sure you get a few more breezes than you would at ground level.

I really like the change they make in the overall look. I think it also brings more definition to the windows.

Owwwww I just love your porch room. I love the sheers. My friend suggested it to me a couple of years ago and I sorta laughed and blew her off. Oh my after seeing yours, I would love to try it on mine. I had to show her pics of your sheers recently and I reminded her of her suggestion to me and she was smiling like the cat who ate the mouse, and she said "I told you so". Love the difference it made on your porch.

Love the porch with or without the sheers :) - but they do soften the look. I hung some to help cover my vertical blinds on the sliding glass door, without blocking light and it looks so much better.

Hi Susan...I think I remember you said you had kept an inspiration photo for years of how you wanted your porch to be...if so, have you posted that picture? I'll just bet your porch turned out even more beautiful than your inspired one.
Great idea you had for MM...so many participants to visit! ;-) Bo

First,as you and others have asked, I am ok, Trying to deal with it all on my on, not told anyone, including hubby whats going on. But I will be in Tuesday for more tests. I am taking one step at a time. Now if you know anyone who makes a corset, I am needing a few, not for fun, but doc says it will help me. I am reading a book on how to make one now.
I caught a glimpse of your sign again on your porch! Summer Breeze! The words are magical, as is your wonderful porch.

Susan I'm in complete envy of your beautiful porch... in fact, of the whole deck! The whole ambiance of the space is cool (i.e., breezes on a warm day) and inviting. When ever I look at your porch pics I want to settle into one of those chairs and read a book!

Thanks for hosting Met Mondays... we've uploaded our first contribution and we look forward to sharing more in the future! I think Kelly and I will take turns :-)
