Create Your Own Color Values and Hex Codes: Part 2 of Fun Things You Never Knew You Could Do With Your Computer

Today I'll be sharing 3 different posts, each highlighting a "Fun Thing You Can Do With Your Computer."  Instead of putting them all together in one post, I'll be posting each one separately so if you wish to refer back to any of these, you won't have to scroll through lots of info to get to what you need.

This is Part 2.  (Part 1 posted this morning and you'll find it, HERE.  Part 3 can be found HERE.)

I'm adding each one of these posts to a category called Blogging Tips and Tutorials.  You'll find all the Blogging posts (as well as past tutorials) linked at the bottom of the BNOTP home page.  You'll also find them under the category heading "Renovations/Tuts" at the top of this blog.

Have fun!

Create your own color values:

Did you know that colors have their own hex code?  Yup.  For example, the hex code for the color black is #000000.  When I was using Pixlr recently to make labels for some tutorial posts, I didn't see the color red I wanted to use for my font color.  I was making a label for this picture below...a Christmas tutorial showing how to make garland (Pottery Barn Garland Hack.)  I looked up red hex codes and typed in the one I liked for my font. (Note the hex code showing in photo below.)

Here's how the labeled photo looked in the end.  (This Garland Hack tutorial can be found HERE.  Post about making labels for photos can be found, HERE.)

Below you'll find a short list of some of the hex codes for various colors.  If you're using a photo editing site or any site where you wish to control a font color, you'll normally find a box where you can enter the hex code for the color you wish.  There are millions, literally millions more colors and codes than these posted below.

You can actually generate your own hex code for the color you want,  HERE.

If you're a Blogger and have Adsense ads on your blog, you can control the how those look by changing the hex codes under the Layout screen.

Bonus Info:

How do various fonts actually look?

Recently, I was working in a program that had a text list of available fonts, but it didn't show "how" the font would look.  It was time consuming trying each one out and discovering it wasn't what I wanted to use.  The name of the font just isn't enough normally to tell you how the font will look.

Here's a list showing some of the most popular fonts, along with their names.  This may be handy to refer back to when you're searching for that perfect font.

You'll find Parts 1 and 3 in this series of Fun Things You Never Knew You Could Do With Your Computer, HERE and HERE.

Pssst:  If you've found this tutorial helpful, would appreciate so much if you give it a +1 in Google.  You'll find the +1 button at the end of the post.  Thanks so much in advance!

My favorite font is Comic Sans MS. It makes everything look pretty. Thanks for giving it to us at a glance. So helpful.
