This is Mockingbird Hill, a home I've admired for many years. Apparently, it has been on the tour a number of times, but I always missed it. At last I got to go inside. It's a beautiful home! And per the guide, it's reported to have a ghost! Love that! Every historic home needs at least one ghost.
This was the line to go in. Usually homes only have short lines, but not this one. Apparently, there are a lot of admirers of Mockingbird Hill. The line moved quickly, so we only had to wait about 15 minutes.

This was in the backyard of another home on the tour. I love this! If I had an ourdoor fireplace, I'd want it to look just like this. Beautiful!

Love the picket fence around this house. They had these orange cones up everywhere to keep folks from parking on the streets.

We got there too late to tour this house. Unfortunately, it closed early. I've always wanted to go inside so I was kind of disappointed we missed it.

As we were exiting the back door of one of the homes on the tour, I saw this over the backyard fence. Looks like an "outdoor" room...all screened in. Neat, huh?

My husband and I fell in love in Marietta (back in the day) and I used to dream of living in one of the beautiful home off the square! I know they have continued to inspire our home choices through all these years. Thank you for sharing, makes me a bit "home" sick for Marietta.

OH! I was working one of those houses and would have loved to have met you! I didn't get to tour the homes because of my schedule this year and a glitch in my timing...it is the holidays but love seeing all of the pics of the homes I didn't get to see. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJenny, I would love to have met you, too! The year I worked as a docent, I toured the houses on Saturday and worked on Sunday. It's hard to tour the same day you work. Sorry you didn't get to go on the tour, itself. Thank you though, for being a part of the process. I love this tour each year.

Such beautiful old homes to tour! My favorite was the potting shed. I loved the character of the old bricks and such. It looks like a cozy little place that could be used for lots of things other than potting! :)
