Dining in the Conservatory: Welcome to the 179th Tablescape Thursday!

Greetings!  Hope your morning is off to an awesome start.  Last night I took advantage of having Wednesday evening free (now that our tablescape party starts on Thursday morning) and I attended a large Atlanta Blogger Meetup.  This group has been meeting for several years now and I just found out about it.

There were around 70 bloggers in attendance and it was so much fun getting to meet other bloggers in the Atlanta area.  Our speaker was John Saddington with Tentblogger.  John's enthusiasm for blogging is completely infectious and he's an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker.   Most of us had driven through intense traffic and some nasty rain to get to the meetup...totally worth it, though.  I'm looking forward to next month's meeting.  If you live in the Atlanta area and are interested in meeting other bloggers, you'll find more information about the meetups at Atlanta Bloggers.

Tablescape Thursday:
For this Tablescape Thursday, we've been invited to dine in the Conservatory.   Doesn't that sound wonderful?   Hope you have your passport handy because we'll be traveling to Switzerland this evening for dinner in Cornelia's beautiful home.

  1

Come on in...Cornelia has everything ready.

  2

Notice the gorgeous inlay around the apron of the table.  You can see it on the chairs, as well.  So pretty!

Your place is right here.  Come along, have a seat and enjoy this stunning table set with antique and vintage pieces.   The beautiful, silver candlesticks are by Jezler (Switzerland).  The small crystal glasses are from a German company named Theresiental.  The wine glasses are vintage hand-cut crystal.

30

The napkins are vintage Swiss broderie anglaise and date back to the 1950's.  They are from the Swiss canton of St. Gall.

30c

The china was made by the porcelain factory Martin in Limoges France.

31

The silver cutlery is by Jezler-Switzerland. The pattern is Reed.

33

The grapes are from Cornelia's garden.  They grow just outside the window of the conservatory.

51

The wine glasses are vintage, hand-cut crystal.  The base of this stem is as beautiful as the glass itself!

53

Beautiful!

Roses make a beautiful centerpiece.  The vase is Augarten from Austria.

Sooo pretty.  Can you smell their sweet scent?

There's a lovely dessert table tucked away here in the corner.

60

The vase is by Meissen.  The vintage tablecloth is hand-embroidered.

61

Another gorgeous floral arrangement...

62

The porcelain on the dessert table is Limoges, also.  It was made by Charles Ahrenfeldt in the Montjovis district of Limoges France.  According to the mark on the back, this china dates back to between 1894-1930.

Cornelia said, "The red mark on the back shows that it is handpainted but not by the porcelain factory but privately. Someone bought the plain china and painted it and had it burned again."

63

"The pattern is a copy of the scattered Flower pattern by the Swiss porcelain factory Nyon which was producing china between 1781 and 1813."

64

Such a beautiful, delicate pattern...

65

Cornelia, thanks so much for having us to dinner in your beautiful conservatory!

Hi Sussan,

I got up early to catch up on emails and saw you posted up Tablescape Thursday. I'm first. I've never been first in any of these link parties. I feel strangely lucky. LOL.

The tablescape is very different this week. I like how the Italian cut crystal goblets are all in bold different colors and matched with the more delicate Limoges china. My mother has a set of Limoges china like the second set (with the coffee pot) and I'm not sure she's ever used it. She also has vintage Italian colored crystal a close Italian friend gave her as a present many years ago that I know she's never used. It would not have occurred to me to pair them together, but they work. This beautiful table has inspired so many ideas for how to use those pieces. Hmmm. I am going to make sure Reba checks this entry out. Maybe we'll finally use my mom's Limoges for a table.

Thanks for hosting every week. Always love (and am inspired by) the different settings.

Sincerely,
Eldarose from http://RE-inventedstyle.blogspot.com

I can see the grapevine hanging just outside the window! How wonderful to be able to reach right out and pluck what you want! I just love getting a peek into other's homes, especially in other countries where the architecture & decor tends to differ from that to which we are accustomed. Your friend's home is beautiful, and the decorative elements on the table set here are so pretty and feminine!

Very pretty tablescape. I love the treasures Cornelia has found - the hand crocheted tablecloth and hand painted pieces were my favorites.

Although I'm not really fancy with my tablescapes, I do like to join when I can. Your site has made me think about how I set my table more than anything else.

I linked up a Yellow Accented tablescape this time.

Cornelia's table setting is exquisite. And I love how she keeps the room fairly simply so you're focussed on the table and on that beautiful view out of the windows. The whole effect is both stimulating and serene. Please thank her for us.

I absolutely love her china! She always has such gorgeous place settings! The silverware is beautiful I love how they made the tines of the fork...and her crystal goblets are wonderful. I'm imagining a Chocolate Bavarian Torte for dessert with a fabulous cup of coffee! I love what she did for the placemats, it looks like a large doily folded in half...beautiful idea! What a nice room and how wonderful she can pick her own grapes!
I always love seeing something posted from her!

I used my phone and your blog to show my Mother your post. My mother is 89 and dearly loves china and I have inherited her wonderful appreciation of beautiful china. She was so excited about the teaset and dessert plates. Her priceless quote was "If I could just reach in there and take the set home!". My mother is still buying china and shopped with me at Dishes from the Past this week. She bought a set of Haviland named Plaisance with pink rosebuds. Sadly, the store is closing and everything is on 60 percent off. My mother and I have know the owner and her mother forever. She has held on for three years and must close her business. If you need any replacement pieces for your china I thought you might like to know. Happy Tablescaping! Pam
