Welcome to the 58th Tablescape Thursday and a Fall Party with Rhoda!

(If pics appear cut off on the right side, try setting your computer to it's highest resolution.)

It's just starting to feel a bit like fall here in the deep south. So let's celebrate with a simple tablescape brimming with all the rich colors of autumn. After you visit all the wonderful tablescapes posted for this Tablescape Thursday, be sure to scroll on down to Met Monday's Give-a-Way. Just leave a comment on the Met Monday post to be included in the drawing for a gorgeous tassel from The Tassel House. I'm also linking this fall tablescape to Rhoda's (Southern Hospitality) Fall Party. You'll want to stop by Rhoda's for lots of fall inspiration! :-)

To Autumn...by John Keats

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness!
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;

Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,

For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?

Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,

Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,

Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twinèd flowers;

And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;

Or by a cider-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—

While barrèd clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;

Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;

And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;

Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Hi Susan,

I'm so glad to be a part of your party again this week. You know I love it!! I love your setting this week, I wish we celebrated Fall here in Australia. What does your husband think of all your collections of china, I know what my husband thinks. I don't show him what I pick up anymore because he will just ask me where am I going to put it.

I have a collection of many different table setting that I have done this week on my blog as I have been out every day photographing gardens before we loose all this lovely spring.

Have a great party.

I really love this Fall tablescape, Susan! Your acorn candle is adorable and I love the leaf placemats.

I went to a new Marshalls in my area tonight hoping I would find some things so that I could participate this week, but they had NOTHING! So disappointing. They are billing this store as being more about the shoes than anything else, but I've never seen such a small selection of dinnerware.

I'll be hitting a few other stores this week, so I'm hoping I'll find things that catch my eye in time for next week.

I got so ingrossed in the narative that I had to go back and see the tablescape. Absolutly perfect Poem for this lovely fall day.
That lantern is very tempting. So interesting and useful with its height and sparkle. I love the placemats and wish our Big Lot was still open, but the fact that it was replaced with a Hobby Lobby is some consulation. Must head to the new Dollar Tree by us to see if they have the glasses. They will be good with the dishes I got this summer from Sur-la-table that look very much like yours.
Sorry to go on so long but I have missed you and love your work.
Hugs,
Sue

I think you should do a posting of all your sets of dishes or the dish pantry. You never seem to use the same set of dishes twice..excluding the Gibson dishes set. We never grow tired of seeing your beautiful tablescapes and what is so neat about you is that you mix the very expensive items with the less expensive and it works! Nobody can ever say you flaunt the most expensive brands of silver, crystal or china. You are a wise shopper too with a wonderful creative eye!

Starr said...

Awwww I love your Fall table! And I adore that candle centerpiece! I really appreciated that you posted where you got each table item. I have a dollar tree in my town and I plan to stop out there tomorrow and do a little looking around for those glasses! haha
