Mary's bath, BEFORE:
Mary's home was built in 1980, before the era of really big bathrooms. But Mary doesn't see having a small bathroom as a negative.
Instead, Mary said, "Now that I am older, I love that I don't have a spa. Who the heck can bend down and clean all that floor space in those party bathrooms? I sure can't. I have more fun things to do. :)"
Let's take a look at Mary's bath before the renovation. Before, it was functional, but very plain in design...typical for the 1980's.
The floor BEFORE the renovation...
BEFORE view of the shower area. Are you ready to see the After? :)
Wow, quite a difference, isn't it?! Mary told me her bathroom renovation was done by Chesapeake Remodel. Gone are the beige walls and brown tiles! Mary chose Benjamin Moore, Marina Gray for her walls. It really feels sleek and sophisticated, doesn't it?
The shower has gone through a huge transformation! The walls were finished in American Olean, Series name: Catarina. It's a ceramic product, though it looks a lot like marble, doesn't it? Mary said, "The wall above the old shower was taken out and part of the wall beside the shower, leaving a knee wall. A clear glass shower door and panel were installed, both trimmed in chrome.
Mary said her installer had his doubts when he first saw how large the tiles were (12 x 24) for this bath design. In the end, everyone was really pleased with how it turned out. The shower walls are American OleanSeries name: Catarina Color: Coliseum White. The shower floor is American Olean, Unglazed Mosaics, Color: Storm Gray Speckled AO6.
A new light fixture was selected.
Mary upgraded her light fixture during this renovation, going from two lights to three. The additional light really adds to the open feel of the new design.
Mary went with a silver and white cultured marble top to compliment the shower walls. She chose the following paint for this remodel: Ceiling Paint- Benjamin Moore Kitchen and Bath paint: White; Wall Paint- Benjamin Moore Kitchen and Bath paint: Color Name-Marina Gray Color; Trim Paint: Benjamin Moore Latex-White.
The sink Faucet is by Delta- Leland Two Handle (Spread apart) Chrome Finish. Shower Faucet is by Delta- Classic Monitor Series Chrome Finish.
Love the flooring...wow!
Mary, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful bathroom make-over. It is an amazing transformation and just shows that even a small bath can be designed to feel elegant and sophisticated!

ReplyDeleteSusan, Mary's "new" bathroom is wonderful! Her choice of colors is very relaxing - and the finishes should be easy to keep clean ... leaving her more time for the fun stuff! Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your friends bath before and after. Also thanks for hosting this party. I loved being inspired to get mine done so I could join in.
That is exactly the picture I needed to see. The one of the glass from the shower coming down to the sink. This is what I am doing in my ensuite bathroom and my husband couldn't picture it.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Living in NY, I can relate to a tiny bathroom. It's the norm. She did a great job.
ReplyDeleteNicely done, what a difference the appearance of more light makes!

What a great bathroom remodel! Talk about making the most of space! I love the tile she chose! Whenever in doubt, stick to the classics, they never steer you wrong! Beautiful choices, and if she liked the low-maintenance of her bath before, now it's got to be even better!
ReplyDeleteGreat bathroom renovation, very inspiring for people who don't have a big bathroom, like me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation !! I want those floors !! The color palette she chose is very calming ... love it. Thanks for shairng and for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out wonderful! Big change from what it was!

ReplyDeleteSusan - Great article on Mary's bathroom. Mary and I recently "met" through your blog. We haven't met in person yet...but she lives right down the street from me! I'm looking forward to seeing this gorgeous bathroom in person! Thanks for being the venue that introduced me to my neighbor! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteHope this finds you doing well hon.
Wow, your friends bathroom redo came out great. That is what my post is of too. It looks so light, airy and modern. Very cheery.
Thanks so much for hosting, as always, this is only my 2nd time.
Lots of neat posts and clever folks
that did them.
Blessings, Nellie
Thanks for hosting every week, I really look forward to this. Such a change in her bath. I bet she is really happy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bath!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree completely with Mary -- WHY have acres of tile to clean? Seriously if I want a "spa experience," I want a well muscled young masseur AND a maid to clean up to go along with it!
Great, beautiful AND practical makeover.
Cass
what a beautiful room! i'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bathroom redo - so glad she got it like she wants it! Have you seen all the beauty being linked this week? Wow! I've already visited bunches and can't wait to see more. Thanks for hostessing!
