View the Homes of Celebrities, Athletes and Famous Personalities

Recently, I came across an interesting website I never knew existed. I have to warn you, it's a tad addictive and you feel a bit like a stalker.  It's called Virtual Globetrotting.

Have you ever wondered what kind of house some of your favorite movie stars, celebs, tv/radio personalities or professional athletes live in? There are thousands of star's homes pictured at this site and some look like hotels. They are HUGE.

Here are just a few I found under the category, "Most Popular."

The Beverly Hill's home of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Home of Bill Gates in Nice, France
The info at Virtual Globetrotting stated, "This is arguably one of the most superb villas in the world, back up the hills behind Beaulieu and Villefranche. One of several villas created by King Leopold of the Belgians for his various mistresses, it was for some years owned by Fiat tycoon Gianni Agnelli, and more recently purchased by Bill Gates for a sum in excess of $76m. Microsoft Co-founder Paul's Allens Maryland Villa is minutes away."

Michael Jordan, the retired professional basketball player lives here in Highland Park, Illinois.

The home of Oprah Winfrey in Montecito, California...

You can also search by "state" to see which celebs, professional athletes, etc... live in your state. I checked out Georgia and here are just a few that I found.

Paula Deen's home in Savannah, GA...

Jeff Foxworthy's home in Alpharetta, GA

Sandra Bullock's home on Tybee Island, GA...

You can easily alternate between Bing Maps and Yahoo Maps to see different homes and different views. Some houses are viewable from the "street view" via Google's Street View...like Ashley Judd's home, below.

There's some rather unusual things on there, too. You can see pics of glaciers, volcanoes, mountain ranges, forests...even the surface of the moon. Here's a couple of neat ones I found.

Blue whale skeleton, outside the Long Marine Laboratory at the University of California, Santa Cruz

Hanwell Maze in Hanwell, United Kingdom

Have fun virtual globetrotting, HERE

  7. Hey, guess what??? I FOUND Johnny's villa! Huzzah! When we were in Villafranche (close to the Bill Gates villa you showed), I was only about 40 minutes by train from the town of Plan de la Tour and my beloved Johnny. Don't think it didn't cross my mind to leave James Bond and Indy in on the cruise ship and hop that train. I KNOW Johnny would have let me in.

  13. Hi Susan, Interesting that you shared this site to see all these massive homes owned by stars. I just saw the Director who directed the film, "Bruce Almighty"...he has had some sort of wakeup call in his life..he said the more things he got in life with $$$, cars, boats, airplanes, homes, the less peace he found he had. He had a profound thing happen to him and he decided to sell it all and he lives in a really nice Mobile Park in CA - he was on The View this week talking about what inspired him and how he's putting his money into the Community and for good. It really put some faith back into the fact that even people in Hollywood can find a new purpose in life to not hoard all their wealth for themselves. These homes really brought that interview back to me... Great site to share with us! :) Hugs friend!

  15. Goodness!! What does one do with all that room???
    It is fascinating though.
And I still hearken back to one of my favorite posts of all time - when you featured the house from
A Christmas Story. Loved that post!
Oh, and your post earlier about Max this week. What is it about pencils, pens and eyeglasses that cats find so irresistible??

  16. Thanks, Carol. I'll be doing more of those kinds of posts...they are so much fun to share.
You are so right about cats and pens, pencils and glasses. Max loves to knock my reading glasses off my bedside table if I leave them within "paw distance." LOL I have to hide them behind the lamp. :)

  17. I truly have no idea what I would do with THAT much space! These homes are amazing though. Did you notice that every home in Tom & Katie's neighborhood has a tennis court and pool? I wonder if that's required per the HOA? LOL!

  18. That is cool. I'm going to check it out. It's not only for us to see celeb's homes but it looks educational also.

  19. Out of all those houses I love Paula and Sandra's the most. I don't know what I'd do with a house as big as some of those.

  23. Cc Catherine. I didn't see episode but I couldn't agree more. In this time where Americans are struggling just to stay afloat and detroit is truly starting to look like the scenes from Robocop, it's nice to know integrity still exists in some people.
Now, that being said I was absolutely oohing and ahhing over these houses. They are simply amazing and the idea that this is probably the closest I'll get to them.....well may as well enjoy the amusement out of it, right?
If my life were ever to be as fortunate though, I know I'd spend less time in the palace and more time with plain, ol, good people.

  24. Yes I found that site a few months
    ago. Its amazing.

  25. Even if I could afford to live like that, I wouldn't. I'd be too embarassed to live so extravagently when so many other people around me have so much less. It's kind of sad really. Some of the houses did look like just regular big, nice houses though.

  26. I'm glad I don't live in those huge homes! I have a hard enough time keeping up on cleaning in my little house. But I do like Ashley Judd's home. Very pretty! Have a wonderful day!
