Garden & Gun Asks Rachel Ashwell

I used to subscribe to Garden & Gun magazine.  I need to renew my subscription because I really miss it.  Fortunately, I'm still on their mailing list and from time to time I receive e-mails with links to some interesting articles.

February's issue of Garden & Gun featured a tour of Rachel Ashwell's Texas home and included an interview with the designer and founder of the brand we know as "Shabby Chic."

Have you ever visited one of her stores?  Her style is beautifully romantic, nostalgic and feminine.  You can read more about Rachel at her blog appropriately titled,  Rachel's Blog.

Included in the recent e-mail I received from Garden & Gun was a fun Q & A with Rachel.  As I read her answers, I found myself wondering how I'd answer those same questions.

So I decided to take the quiz.  The questions were challenging at times because they made me really think about what I enjoy and value.  I'm not the most introspective person so my answers kind of surprised me.

Below you'll find my answers to the 15 questions Garden and Gun asked Rachel.  I'd love to hear yours too!  I've included just the questions at the end of this post.  I hope you'll copy and paste those into a comment and leave me your answers.

Okay...here goes:
1. Favorite Cocktail?  Mint Julep
2. Favorite Getaway?  Hiking the North Georgia Mountains or visiting Savannah (I know that's two...couldn't choose.) (Psst: You can see more of Savannah, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.)
3. If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?  My mother before she became sick.
4. Daydream of the moment?  Traveling the back roads of Italy for weeks, ala Frances Mayes.
5. Your personality in one word?  Curious.
6. Are you more garden or gun?  Definitely garden.
7. If you were road-tripping, what's the one album you'd take with you?  Depends on my mood:  James Taylor's Greatest Hits or at the other extreme, Pink.
8. What are you reading?  Mastering the Nikon D7000 by Darrell Young and Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.
9. What do you want to do when you grow up?  Not gonna grow up, but if I have to, I'd love to keep doing what I'm currently doing...blogging/sharing.  Maybe there's even a book in here somewhere?
10. What is your greatest extravagance?  Guilty Pleasure?  Staying up late reading, then sleeping in.
11. Favorite Southern Food?  Pulled-Pork Barbecue or Pinto Beans with either a corn hoe cake or cracklin' corn bread and a Vidalia onion.  (I know...two answers again...couldn't decide.)
12. Most treasured possession?  Photos/videos of my son
13. Favorite Southern name?  Olivia (It's my grandmother's name and my middle name)
14. What talent would you most like to have?  Speak several languages
15. What's your current state of mind?  Grateful and hopeful
