Screen In Your Deck Easily and Inexpensively: Welcome to the 133rd Metamorphosis Monday!

How was your weekend? Did you spend any time outdoors grilling or just sitting on your porch, patio or deck? Would you spend more time outside if you didn't have to cope with the bugs and that hot summer sun?

I'm so excited about the metamorphosis I'll be sharing today.  Recently, Terry who blogs at  La Bella Vie, shared a few pics of her answer to enjoying more outdoor time, minus the hot sun and bugs. I loved her low-cost answer to beating the heat and mosquitoes and I'm so happy to share this wonderful space with you for this week's Metamorphosis Monday.

Before:
Terry's deck used to look like this.  Typical deck, right?

Take a look at it now! A lovely screened oasis!

Here's a look with the doorway zipped up "bug-free" tight.

And for those pest-free spring and fall days, this screened room can be opened up by pulling each side back.  The sections are held in place by toggles.

Pretty awesome, isn't it?  Amazingly, this screened canopy was only $99 at Bi-Mart, a warehouse discount store.  So, for a reasonable expense, you get an instant screened-in porch.

The roof/top of this screened canopy keeps the direct rays of the sun off your deck and you, letting you enjoy those days outside without the worry of getting sunburned or overheated.

Terry has turned this space into a wonderful outdoor room, complete with a beautiful rug she found at Home Decorators on line.

Terry and her hubby built the Adirondack chairs several years ago.  Wow, they look so professionally made!  Initially, they painted them white but last year Terry repainted them this wonderful blue color chosen by Mr. La Bella Vie.

I love this cozy seating area...pass me the lemonade, please.

Terry make the pillows from old (1940's) Sunbonnet Sue quilting blocks she found in Houston at the International Quilt show several years ago.

Terry changes the pillows in her outdoor room occasionally, giving it a more tropical feel.

I love the color of those chairs!

To give her outdoor space an even cooler more soothing feel, Terry added a bubbly fountain.

Here are just a few of the lovely details in this outdoor space. As you can see, Terry has tiny, winged visitors stopping by.

Here are a few more details that make this space feel like another room in Terry's lovely home...a room with a view and soft breezes. Life is good.

Don't let the buggies keep you inside all summer. You can find screened canopy rooms online at Amazon and in many discount stores like Target and Walmart.

Thanks, Terry for sharing your wonderful screened-in deck. You can visit Terry at La Bella Vie.

  2. Susan,
WoW! What a transformation from deck to screen porch! I'll have to look for these in our area. We have no shade and our deck being on the WEST, it isn't bearable most of the Summer. This could be a possible solution on the Prairie! The blue is a cool and soothing shade!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  20. WOW this is just such an honor to be a featured guest at Between Naps On The Porch!
We truly have had so much enjoyment from our little screened in sun-room that we've actually spent more time out here than inside the house this summer! The best part about it like Susan said, is that we stay bug free and we don't bake out in the sun, its just a cozy outdoor space that anyone can achieve with a little imagination!

THANK YOU AGAIN SUSAN FOR THIS LOVELY GUEST POST AND FOR HOSTING ANOTHER METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY!!!
    YOU ARE JUST THE BEST!!!

    Most sincerely,

  41. Hello Raquel,
    Terry here from, http://sweetpea-labellavie.blogspot.com/

Didn't Susan do a fantastic job with that post! I still love to read it again every now and then and can't believe I had such a little sun room and warmth...its not that way now...burrr!
Susan emailed me and asked if I could help with the question about the bird bath.

I think its by a company called "Grasslands" which you can find online but I believe they only sell wholesale to retailers?

I purchased it at a store near me named "Pickleweed Hill"
    1873 Willamette Falls Drive,
    West Linn, OR 97068
    (503) 387-5958
They don't have a website but I hope the info helps.

Thanks for the nice comment and thanks again Susan for doing this fun post!
    Terry
