This home sits on 16.73 acres and the interior appears to be professionally decorated with the furnishings valued at $500,000. So let's take a tour! :)
I love an entry large enough for a large, round center hall table. I adore all the high ceilings throughout this beautiful home.
The Living Room: Very ornate and very pretty. Wonder how the ceiling is finished...looks interesting, doesn't it?
The kitchen has custom cabinetry and the appliances are Viking. Notice the large lamp on the counter...something you don't see very often. I was just thinking how nice it would be to have a lamp in a kitchen on a timer that came on at dark. You'd never have to walk into a dark kitchen when you're making that midnight snack run. Or, maybe that's just me with the nighttime snack attack. ;)
Amazing light fixture over the island. I love the chickens holding the paper towels. The open cabinetry appears to have a bead board back.
The flag above the mantel is gorgeous against the old brick, isn't it? Have you ever seen a paper towel holder like that? I can't get over it...too cute! It's big...you need some counter space for one that size. Gorgeous butcher block island top. How do you like the black doors? I think they are painted black...either that or a very dark stain.
Powder Room: I wonder if this bath is tucked under a staircase. Often when old homes are renovated/restored, a powder room is created in the area under a stairway.
The Dining Room: Beautiful chandelier! Can you just imagine how gorgeous it must be in person? I love that it's hanging low enough to actually appreciate it. So often I see chandelier hung really high above dining room tables. Notice the elaborate wall treatment. Wonder if it's wallpaper or hand-painted?
Family Room/Den: There's another door that's either painted black or has a dark stain. Notice the wonderful arrangement on the shelf above the doorway. Love the big lanterns on the mantel. I think that's a croquet set there against the wall. I would never think to display one inside this way, but that particular set is really wonderful with all the beautiful wood. I love seeing a large upholstered ottoman as a coffee table, but I'm not sure I would be brave enough to have one in my own home. I'd be so worried about turning over a drink on the tray and it ending up on the ottoman. They look great for propping up your feet, though. This ottoman coordinates with the back of the bookshelves. Amazing detail in this home. Do you have an upholstered "coffee table" and if so, do you like it?
The Sunroom: Beautiful room! Now how do you think they keep all the colorful fabrics from fading? Maybe the glass is treated to prevent this problem. Are the columns on the outside? It looks like the glass goes up to the center of them. Maybe they are half inside and half outside. Imagine all the parties that have been held in this home. :)
I think this is the upstairs landing. Love, love, love the high ceilings. I've been on a few historic home tours where someone had lowered the ceilings and it made me want to cry. Usually that can be undone, though.
If this is the upstairs landing, the stairway going up must lead to the attic. I love going in the attic of an old home. I've only been able to do that on one historic home tour and it was amazing.
Wonder if this is the Master Bedroom? Beautiful color blue on the walls.
I think there's a little blue in the fabric, though it's hard to see in this pic. Pretty sure I see some in the bed skirt. Notice how the trim is white in this room.
This may be the master bath. The wall paper looks like damask, doesn't it? I'd love to tour this house in person. Wonder if that's fabric on the walls or paper?
The trim is stained in this bedroom...very different look. It doesn't feel dark, though because of all the beautiful fabric/draperies. Normally, I'm not crazy about a settee at the foot of the bed because it often hides the beauty of the bed, but I actually like the way this one looks. Older homes are blessed with so many beautiful windows in each room. It can sometimes make it a challenge finding a good spot for the bed. Looks like they had to place this one in front of the windows.
The custom window treatments in this house are truly amazing! Cute baby bed on the right. This must be a guest room.
Here's a back view of this estate. Hope you enjoyed the tour. I always love home tours because no matter how different the home is from my own, I always come away with new ideas...like coordinating the back of built-in shelving with an ottoman in the room...or displaying a vintage croquet set inside in a family room, or a large lamp on a kitchen counter. What ideas did you come away with?

I liked the outdoor room and the dining room. The outdoor room was fresh and colorful.
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask how much it cost, but then I saw the listing. Only 3.5 million if it's sold unfurnished.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture is worth over twice as much as my house. Ha!
This is an awesome property. The kitchen is crazy - The distressed cabinets are kind of a lot to handle, I think, but I adore the exposed brick hearth! Thanks for sharing :)
This is just stunning and I'm in love with the window treatments too which is funny since I really don't use any in my home. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteLoved this tour. Our home was built in 1830 and I always gravitate toward older homes too...love to photograph them and think I'd collect them if I could.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend,
Cheryl
Lisa, wow...didn't even notice that!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I could see myself doing something similar in my foyer, but Prince Charming would find it much too cluttered. He likes just a few pieces of furniture in each room. Our house is big enough, and undergoing a complete over haul. You can see the "Before" pics here: http://sunla-designs.blogspot.com/search/label/Home
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot of work!
I"m familiar with this property. I saw it being remodeled several years ago. It is truly a beautiful home. The guest house is adorable too. It is meticulously maintained! It is a historic treasure!
ReplyDeleteI liked the fireplace in the kitchen and the dining room. Nice tour.
ReplyDeleteOH My what a gorgeous home,,, I am in love with the kitchen.... it is so beautiful...I love taking home tours on line too.... so much fun. I too find some really great ideas from these home's,,, just on a smaller scale,,, you can copy any thing with just a few things.... have a great weekend.

Alaura, I so agree. Love getting ideas on tours. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sun room, and I think that the glass divides the columns - as you said - so that they are half in and half out of the room. Stunning! I think if you are that wealthy, you don't worry about fading fabrics.
ReplyDeleteKenju,
ReplyDelete:) Good point!
Oh I love the grandness of this home... lovely tour. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture are just wonderful and love the fabrics and their patterns ♥
Wow, what a gorgeous home! Those window treatments are amazing. Really love that kitchen and the outdoor area.

Beautiful home and tour! Loved the framed photos in the powder/bathroom-great idea for all the photos I have of my great grandparents' generation! Just yesterday my husband and I "tried on" sofas and found one very much like the high armed green sofa on the porch. I would love to have enough counter space for a lamp, but I don't think that will be in my future-but lovely to look at on tour!
ReplyDeleteMet my neighbor from up the street. We found one another through your blog! She is a doll so thanks for the "introduction!"
Oh my, what a beautiful ornate home! But a bit, okay, a whole lot too "foo-foo" for our lifestyle and tastes.
ReplyDeleteI love the walls in the kitchen and little powder room off the kitchen. I wonder if those are "outer" walls of the original part of the home or what?
I've been contemplating adding a shelf area above some of my windows in my home and the one above the door in the family room is a great idea to continue the look of the bookshelves. I have beautiful molding/trim on all my windows and a shelf sitting on top of one, two or maybe even three throughout the house would be great places to create vignettes but then that means I have to do some more shopping, huh??
I swear, I love coming to your blog. I love seeing all these houses. Thanks for always sharing. Have a great weekend.

What a beautiful home. If only I was rich! Richard at My Old Historic House
ReplyDeleteMan, I could just live on that porch.
ReplyDeleteSusan, this could be me before blogging. I loved peeking into beautiful homes to see how they were decorated so I visited real estate sites often, still do when I have time. This home tour is great. The home is so beautiful and my goodness so much inspiration here. The kitchen is amazing, one I would feel very happy in. Thanks for sharing the tour. Happy Weekend.

The French Hutch
Susan, I loved the spaciousness of this house, but felt it was furnished a little too heavy for my tastes. Loved the sunroom though, you can see where they bevelled the glass around the posts, very clever.
ReplyDeleteOne thing did stand out for me though, with all the heavy furniture around the house, in the master bedroom they had a modern/art deco style mirrored night table.
I looked up the paper towel holder. http://theonlinefurniturestore.com/highlighted-verdigris-and-antique-patina-brass-rooster-paper-towel-holder-by-maitland-smith.aspx I don't care to take out a mortgage for a paper tower holder, but it is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteMarian,
ReplyDeleteOM Gosh. I've never seen a $600 paper towel holder before. lol No, I won't be buying one of those. either.
OM Goodness! What a fabulous house, Susan! I love looking at stunning things like this! I'm photographing my kitchen, total reconstrucction, for your party MM, after seeing this kitchen, I may not show mine?! hahaha...this kitchen is great and elegant, but kind of uncortable, though, but love the chicken paper towel-holder! Thanks for sharing. Love, FABBY
ReplyDeleteSusan, this is a beautiful home. My favorite room is the sunroom. I wonder if the glass is in the center of the columns. Not sure how they would do that, but it almost looks that way. It's a great space. Love the big kitchen with the large fireplace too.
ReplyDeleteI think I would buy it furnished. I would never be able to furnish it myself like they have done. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI guess if I was really pushed I could put up with living here *giggles*.
ReplyDeleteI love all the old world charm and the details...Like you I am loving on that paper towel holder and think I might have to create one of my own...maybe scaled down just a touch for my smaller kitchen.
Thank you for sharing this beauty with us.
Blessings Kelsie
Marian, check out this paper towel holder Faith found. It looks similar and is reasonably priced:

OK, yes I live in Ohio and winters are rough here.....summers too, for that matter...but Susan (or anyone) can you tell me if this house has a garage? We couldn't possibly do w/o during the winter, as the ice locks the doors and one cannot get into one's car easily w/o keeping it out of the elements as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering about this home - didn't see one, so thought I would ask!
Hi Michele,
ReplyDeleteI just checked the real estate listing and it says it has a single detached garage. Maybe that single garage really has several bays to hold several cars. Garages are definitely a desired feature here in GA because it's no fun scraping ice off a wind shield each winter morn. It can get pretty cold here during the winter, although, probably not as cold as in Ohio.
Great question!
OK, saw the other Rooster Towel Holder, and it's cute, BUT, I know which I'd choose if price didn't matter. I have a pair of brass ice tongs holding my paper towels that I think I'll keep. Hey, I just saved $600. How should I spend it?
ReplyDeleteOh My!! to only have that sunroom.. though most of the house is just a little too foo foo for us... I enjoyed looking thru..
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing..
Gosh, what a beautiful home. All of the decor is just as lovely as can be. I can only dream. Thanks for the tour. Loved it!!
ReplyDeleteLove that sunroom! I've never seen one like it before. I'd love to take a tour of the estate to view the walls and fabric closer. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis house is gorgeous! It's around the corner from me, and it's on my list of houses to choose from when we finally win the lottery! The furnishings are a bit fancy for my tastes, though, I lean more towards the primitive look. There's also a guest house on the property, and it's furnished in my style!
ReplyDeleteFun post!
Thanks,
Melissa
Melissa, so cool that it's near you!
ReplyDeleteYou have such an eye for detail, you were able to note things I wouldn't have seen. It's a gorgeous home- soft, colorful just like a home should be!
ReplyDeleteHave to choose the kitchen in this truly exquisite home, but do love the sunroom too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tour :)
Judit & Corina
does anyone know where to get the barstools like the ones pictured in this kitchen?
